Hudson Group Wins Contract for Newsstand and Gift Concession Package At Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

Phoenix, AZ; January 19, 2006 - The Hudson Group and its local DBE partner, Cambios y Servicios, are pleased to announce that they have won the contract to develop an upscale gift concession called "Desert Winds" and a new Hudson News store in Terminal 4 of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

"We are pulling out all the stops to serve the travelers and employees of the airport with news, gift and souvenir shops of outstanding quality," says Joseph DiDomizio, Executive Vice President, Hudson Group. "Desert Winds and the new Hudson News store will make use of colors and materials evocative of the region to create a truly 'Phoenix' sense of place."

Desert Winds will be divided into five distinct areas, including:

  • Arizona Spirit. A diverse selection of hard goods and apparel celebrating local culture and icons.
  • Arizona Kitchen. A wide array of regional foods, cookbooks, tabletop items and kitchenware.
  • Discover Arizona. Gifts/souvenirs from the many museums and cultural institutions of Phoenix.
  • Cosanti Bells. An assortment of distinctive bells, wind chimes, pottery, and handmade crafts designed by noted Arizona architect Paolo Solari.
  • Christmas in Arizona. A treasure trove of regionally themed holiday ornaments, kitchenware, home fashions and more.

These five "stores-within-stores" will maximize sales by providing something for everyone, including a broad range of the best merchandise from local museums and cultural institutions, such as the Phoenix Art Institute, Challenger Museum, and Children's Museum of Phoenix.

Paul Blue, Director of Aviation, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, notes, "We welcome Hudson Group to the fine family of retailers here at Sky Harbor."

Hudson Group's partner in this venture is Cambios y Servicios, a certified Arizona Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) owned by Ricardo DeLeon, a local businessman with two retail stores in Phoenix.
